Making a display feature from a curio shelf starter kit gives you an inexpensive way to display your small collectibles. From golf balls to shot glasses, salt and pepper shakers to spoons. Toys, thimbles, small stuffed animals, miniature furniture, fishing lures, model trains, "matchbox" cars, to name but a few. Whatever configuration you come up with is dependent on the size and shape of your items and your imagination.
If you decide you want to change the look or shape of the curio shelf, you can take it apart and re-configure it. The slats are cut so that they fit snugly together - yet can also be taken apart and re-arranged. This lets you create spaces for items of virtually any shape.
Made of a durable composite material, the slats are not intended to be the decoration - rather, a way to present your collection(s) without detracting from them. The curio shelf starter kit is $45 with FREE SHIPPING and, with slats sold individually, you can expand the size of your curio shelf as your collection grows.
The longest slat is approx. 22 inches long and has 9 notches. For each notch you go down in length, the slat gets 2 inches shorter. The slats are 2 inches in depth and the notches are 1 inch deep. When two notches are joined together, the two slats are flush from front to back.
As you might expect, your curio shelf is something that will change and evolve as your collection grows, here we have illustrated joining two starter kits together. Ordering two starter kits is more cost effective than ordering all of the individual slats.
It should be pointed out that if you only collect small items, e.g. golf balls, you may choose to order several slats of the same length, rather than a 'starter kit'. As shown in the picture, 12 of the 4-notch slats will make a total of 25, 2 x 2-inch square boxes.
