build unique curio shelves
for YOU to display YOUR collectibles
![]() |
Traditional curio shelves have been around for many years, and are a great way to display small collectible items together. The problem has always been how to accomodate different sized articles within the same shelf. Not any more! With our unique design of combining the different lengths of slats, and with your imagination, you are now able to build your own shape of curio shelf and display a variety of sizes of your small collectibles. Think of it like 'scrapbooking' for your walls.
The curio shelf starter kit is $45 with FREE SHIPPING and contains a total of 20 slats, 2 of each length. From this kit there is almost no end to the configurations you can make and, with slats sold individually, you can expand the size of your curio shelf as your collection grows.
Building your curio shelf is easy! You simply fit the notches together to form right angles and, by using different lengths, you create the different sizes and shapes of boxes. There will be empty notches that will be visible, however when your collectibles are on display, the notches are barely noticable.
To hang your creation, hold it against the wall to a level line and put pencil marks in the upper corners of a few of the boxes, then put some headless nails in the marks and your design will hang on the nails. Because of the close proximity to the wall, there is not enough weight on any one nail to make it necessary to put the nails into studs.
Important Note: The slats are a light beige in color, and are neutral to any decorating colors. The finished curio shelf may be painted if you choose, however, if you choose to paint your curio shelf AFTER assembly, your design will become permanent.
If you would like the option of painting the slats BEFORE assembly, so that they can be re-arranged in the future, please remember to tick the box beside the comment "I would like the paintable version" on the order summary page. We will then send you a starter kit with notches that have been cut slightly wider to allow for the thickness of e.g. 2 coats of paint.
Finally, because of the precision with which the slats are cut, care needs to be taken when assembling and taking your curio shelf apart.
